Principal's Message

Welcome to Longfellow Liberal Arts Elementary!  Longfellow is part of Rock Island-Milan School District 41.

Longfellow is home to approximately 270 students, grades K-6.  We also house one Head Start classroom.  Longfellow offers a wide variety of academic programs for our students from support to enrichment opportunities, designed to maximize each student’s individual potential.

We call our community the “Longfellow Family” because we want our school family to be an extension of your family. We want to serve you in times of joy, happiness, and triumph, but also in times of challenge, grief, and struggle. Academic learning and growth are our bottom line, yet we also understand that educating students means being attentive to the “whole child” and caring about their social and emotional well-being.

Our teachers and staff love your students, and we love to be a part of their learning and growth during these crucial years of development. We love having parents in our school and contributing to our positive school culture, whether that is mostly online or in-building this year. Parents and community are a big part of who we are, and we want you to help us tell our story

Rock Island-Milan School District 41’s mission is “To prepare all children for individual success by providing a safe and inclusive quality education within a multicultural community.”  Our priorities at Longfellow and in District 41 are to focus on: 1) Respectful Relationships; 2) Equity & Opportunity; and 3) Enhance and Improve Operations.  All of our focus is centered on these three priorities.
